"Hellbent on destruction" goes to intent, no matter how inept the aliens are at implementing their fiendish plans.

Yeah I guess they destroyed 2 hours of my life and at least a few braincells.

"...things I have neither seen nor experienced nor heard tell of from anybody else; things, what is more, that do not in fact exist and could not ever exist at all. So my readers must not believe a word I say." -Lucian on his book True History

"...They accept such things on faith alone, without any evidence. So if a fraudulent and cunning person who knows how to take advantage of a situation comes among them, he can make himself rich in a short time." -Lucian critical of early Christians c.166 AD From his book, De Morte Peregrini

As for Hollywood aliens not bent on destruction, 1951's 'Day the Earth Stood Still' has to rank among the best, in spite of it's plot flaws and religious overtones.

'Klaatu barada nikto' ... who can argue with that?

K-pax (of course he wasn't REALLY an alien, but honorary at least I would say)

But apart from these, what have the Romans ever done for us?

Actually in K-Pax I got the impression that he was an alien at the end, considering that Betty? vanished, Prot was just occupying the guys body.

The mock aliens from Scary movie 4 were pretty weak too.

Facts! Pssh, you can prove anything even remotely true with facts.

[God] is an infinite nothing from nowhere with less power over our universe than the secretary of agriculture.
- Prof. Frink

Lisa: Yes, but wouldn't you rather know the truth than to delude yourself for happiness?
Marge: Well... um.... [goes outside to jump on tampoline with Homer.]

The foundation of morality is to . . . give up pretending to believe that for which there is no evidence, and repeating unintelligible propositions about things beyond the possibliities of knowledge.
