Years ago, I read an article about the names given to species discovered on an expedition to the Amazon. They were naming them after friends, relatives, and one vindictive fellow named a leech after his ex-ol' lady. I find that humorous to say the least, and I'm pleased to note that the habit yet persists.

Dracorex hogwartsia

Three amateur dinosaur hunter discovered the fossil that look remarkably similar to a dragon. As a tribute to JK Rowling's Harry Potter series of books, the fossil was named Dracorex [wiki] (meaning "Dragon King") hogwartsia, after the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Neat name, even neater skull on that puppy. Wonder what he used a back-pointing horn on the rear of his skull for?
