| I admit that cookies frighten me--perhaps because I don't know enough about what's in the individual cookie's code and perhaps because I tend to err on the side of personal-privacy. 
 I do know that some uses of cookies can be extremely useful and, back in the early days of "what can a personal computer do?", I was a big fan of having it do all kinds of automated tasks for the user---most of which would be done through small resident programs.
 
 "Cookies" would have been a great name for such programs---good kinds of stuff.  While indifferent about cookies, you seldom seem to hear a good word about them.
