 This may seem like an incredibly stupid thing to ask but: What is the point of having a "reset fields" button on the post forms.  
  I am asking because if someone wants to clear everything they just typed they could very easily just hilite their work and press the delete button.  That and the fact that I have (several times now) accidentally deleted my entire post when meaning to click on the "preview" button.

 It appears to be a hard-coded option.  There's probably a way to disable it but I be it's a lot of trouble.  FYI, many people compose posts in a word processor then cut and paste the whole thing into the reply window to prevent things like what you describe.

 I am going to leave it for now. It does not just reset the main text area. It resets every single form element to it's default value. This is a feature many might prefer to keep since it effects so many things at once. It's the all purpose, industrial strength "start over" button.
