Okay, what's the deal with Elizabeth Smart. She ran away from home (as kids often do), got in contact to some kind of wandering priest (similar to Jesus) and obviously didn't want to get back home (denied being herself et cetera).
Now why is this case considered kidnapping? Why isn't she granted religious freedom?

Um. The evidence I've seen thus far states that she was abducted from her bedroom. And as for her dening being herself, hell, how hard is it to terrorize a 14 year old girl?
The asshole currently in the slam for this (may he be sent to the general population at Marion, IL, and his skanky ol' lady with him) was hired for a day or so by the Smarts as a handy man. I rather doubt that she "got in contact" with him, indeed quite the opposit.
Please explain to me how being grabbed by a degenerate, street preacher constitutes religious freedom.
Rip, have you been listening to those talk radio scumbags again? Hasn't anyone warned you that listening to stupidity will stunt your growth?

Riptor, I'm not sure about the specifics, but even if the events happened as you describe, it would be kidnapping. According to the laws of the USA, anyone under 18 is not considered mature enough to make a rational decision for herself. So, (I think) if a legal minor runs away and lives with an adult, that adult is guilty of kidnapping, simply because he could have returned the child to her legal guardians. |

Was babysitting last sunday. It tends to be very hard not to BE TERRORIZED BY THEM :D
Anyways, you may understand that media coverage on this case is not that good in Germany. |

I hear ya! They can be hell, can't they?
I raised 2 daughters as a single parent and what happened to the Smart child was my worst nightmare. They both have families of their own, and I still worry.
