"Anderson makes the remarkable claim that 85 percent of evangelical Christians are afflicted with some level of satanic bondage."
Oh, so that's what's wrong with them.
OTOH, "satanic bondage" sounds like it could be kinda fun... |

Don't know where to place this. Really don't know where to start. This is my first response here. I might say that this forum gives me heart. I am agnostic, not to be mistaken for an agnostic, which might imply a certain membership. I am individual. When my grown daughter learned of this she labeled me arrogant, her feeling about all nonbelievers. I countered by saying that all believers are arrogant, and that includes both theists and atheists. I am not a fence-straddler. I say that I am on one side of a fence and that believers and nonbelievers are on the other side. On their side one finds other fences that separate atheists from theists and on the theist side, Christians from Muslims, Prostestants from Catholics, and so on throughout the realm of countless other religions. It happens that I stand on a side apart from all these arrogant knowers, those full of unwarranted pride and self-importance, haughty and often overbearing. But then, perhaps my daughter is right. Perhaps I am the most arrogant, standing apart from vast majorities, without knowing. I do know one thing, that I am not haughty, self-important or overbearing.

I identify myself as agnostic too. Having said that, most of the atheists I know are not dogmatic about their beliefs. Like me, it comes down to evidence. Since there is no evidence to support the existence of god or gods, beyond anecdotal, they take the position that in all likelihood there is no god. The atheists I know would probably revise that position if strong enough evidence pointed toward the existence of a god. I have met few atheists who felt that they could prove that a god does not exist. A few perhaps, but they were new atheists and hadn't thought the thing through yet.
My reason for identifying myself as agnostic is that I believe that to be the most precise definition for how I view many paranormal claims including the claims for the existence of god. Since I am no theist, It could be said that I too am an atheist. But as a skeptic, I am more comfortable defining myself as agnostic. To me it follows. It's a personal thing I guess.
Oh, one other thing. I know people of faith who are not arragant. It can happen.... |
