| I don't know who's worse, fundies who are a believer in one crazy idea or fundies who believe in multiple crazy ideas, like this one. This guy not only is a creationist, he also believes that the Pyramids at Giza was built before Noah's Flood. Criminy. And this dude believes the Earth is hollow.

| Wait a second! I remember this. It's an old Edgar Rice Burroughs series of books I read when I was a kid. "Tanar of Pellucidar", "Tarzan at the Earth Core" The Earth is hollow with a never setting sun in the middle. There are noble savages, cave bears, evil lizard men and barely clad beautiful cave girls. Great stuff to read under the covers with a flash light.

| well they coulden't print it if it wasn't true!
reality is too strange. who wants to believe that there is "missing matter" or that some strange force we cant identify is causing the universe to expand at a faster rate?

lots of people would rather believe soothing crap.

What about 'Journey to the Center of the Earth'? There's also a Sci-fi movie, 'The Mole People'. Shall we go on
But you guys don't get it, that page wasn't written by a Creationist. He's a travel agent. Sheesh!

Once, while in the Navy, I found myself in the middle of the Bering Sea in the middle of February. Truly the coldest I have ever been in my life.

The ship sailed into a vortex, a giant hole in the middle of the ocean. It was very unnerving as we suddenly found that we had gone quite deep and had to look up to see the opening of the hole. All this time the instruments said that everything was normal as we sailed deeper and deeper. And just as suddenly as we had sailed into it we were out again.

It turns out that this "hole" in the arctic is a very real, and common, thing caused by the extreme weather conditions there. It's just the same as the mirages you encounter in the desert. Only it is a full 360 degrees of the ocean appearing to be in the sky. The horizon seemed to be a full four "hands" width above where it actually was.

I would guess that this weather phenomenon is the ultimate source of this line of bull.

(snickering quietly) Check out this goofball's biography: http://www.ourhollowearth.com/AboutAth.htm
 Turns out he's even weirder than a fundy science-basher, he's a fringe-kook mormon.

He also has some problems with gravity.
quote:Apparently, he explains some of this in his book, in a chapter called, " The Origin, Cause & Control of Gravity Found", but you would have to buy it to find out.It is assumed that the polar openings were formed when the earth was created because centrifugal force would throw matter away from the axis of rotation leaving a hollow in the earth and polar openings at the polar axis.

He's also a little dim on celestial mechanics, or, more likely, he hopes that his gullible readers have never heard of proper motion:
quote:. When the passageway into the pyramid was first discovered it was soon realized that it had originally pointed towards what was then the North Polar Star. That star is not Polaris, the North Star of today. It has shifted several degrees, indicating that the earth's axis may have been tilted since the construction of that pyramid.
