In this link there is an article about a Texas man who got arrested for "selling adult comic books to adults," as this article puts it. The Supreme Court shot down his appeal by refusing to hear it.

Bunch of hippocrits down there if you ask me. When I lived in San Antonio, you would often drive by these larger porn emporioms, clearly visable from the freeway and there was no outcry. As for schools, one of these establishments was about 2 blocks from a high school, so obviously porn is ok, but dirty comics are not ok. Go figure.

This is the sorriest tale I've seen in months!
Is it now fair to assume that in the US it is now legal precedent, that;
a) Comics are for kids. Can you imagine little Johnny,"But mum, legally, I have to have this comic!"
b) It is not required to prove an object is obscene.(as mentioned in the article)
c) If the State Prosecutor doesn't "..care what type of evidence or what type of testimony is out there", then neither should the Judge"

We in the UK are more like the Germans than most would like to admit, for we also frequently use the phrase, Only in America!
Hey, now there's an idea. In the litigious mire that is the US, surely Jesus can sue the comic book manufacturer for 'mental trauma - with intent!!'

Most countries have their odd ball trends. Unfortunatley, ours is litigation , among other things. Course, there are things about europe that I find equally strange. (PS. I am not lumping every in Europe together, just using the term Europe as a generic locative description in this case. )

Well, sheet-fire comrade billyboy. Long time no hear from you.
Yep, I'm wondering how things in Guam are these days.

Actually, the legal precedent only applies to Texas which is sort of like a sovereign nation. (Just ask a Texan)

The US has more tricks than just being sue-happy.
There's accusing countries that don't agree with us of aiding our enemies. (Just ask the French, Russians, or Syrians and any other country Bush tried blaming for supplying night vison goggles to the Iraqis.)
There's accusing countries of cowardace. (Just ask riptor)
There's fierce, unthinking patriotism supplanting that pesky stuff like evidence and reason.
There's government beaurocracy to watch the government beaurocracy.

John Kerry in 2004 because somewhere in Texas, there is a village who has been deprived of their idiot for far too long.
