This seems to happen more and more lately, about once/day.
On the list of all forums, a topic will show the latest posting time and author, but when I go to that topic, it won't show that post even though I'm on the last page and last post.
The problem resolves itself eventually, usually when I go back in a few hours.
Thoughts?

Check me on this, Garrette, but I've noticed this problem only in those folders which begin with a poll. I think that the poll counter shows a 'false' new posting periodically.
If my guess is correct, and it's what you're seeing too, then I don't think we're missing anything.

Whew. I'm glad that's all it is. That may be annoying, but it is my understanding that the polls need to function that way.

I'm having a different problem with the new version of the New Topics that takes up the right hand column on the home page. It takes a very long time to load and then, just before it is finished loading, disappears. Leaving the entire right hand column blank. It's been doing that since the latest set of bells & whistles were added.

Have you all checked your glasses? Either on your eyes or the one in your hand. |

Could you tell me what operating system and browser you are using so I can try to duplicate it?
I am also curious about the mhz of your computer....cause as I recall you use a mac. If I am remembering that correctly it will be hard to track down but that latest post thing does show only html and has nothing else going on so it's probably a small coding error.
Whatever....I'll check it out!

here's an idea.....right above that table is a javascript clock that shows real time based on the clients computer and actually changes by the second as you look at it.
1. These clocks don't work so good in Netscape(but then what does )
2. Javascript can be tricky with Macs and/or Netscape
Could everyone do me a favor and throw all Macs into the ocean(any ocean) and download Internet Explorer!!

I see....so it is my Mac and Netscape (which haven't changed and worked fine 'til now) and not your constant fiddling trying to get the Feung Shui (the Chinese word for OCD) of the home page just so.
I'll just yank them out and toss them in the Pacific. What's a few thousand dollars...

hmmmm...here I thought it was just my machine acting up...was wondering why the right panel on the home screen kept disappearing.
I guess I can live with it for the short run...I really like my Netscape and don't wanna switch to IE.

Boooooooooooooooo!!
You really have no idea how many more features IE has built into it. Not only that but it works with Windows sooo well(it's supposed to eh) and it's very forgiving of code typos and last but not least it has a far superior color palette.
Actually there's more but I won't bore you all....

OK @tomic, please tell me this is my slow nasty little 486 with 16MB of RAM acting funky and not SFN. But I lose all the new topic markers. IOW, the little purple folders all turn yellow after I read a couple of topics. I run IE so......... And am left trying to figure which posts I've already read before and which ones I haven't, tho the dates and times help to some extent.

That sounds like a cookie problem. If you go into your c:\windows\Temporary internet Files and look for a cookie that's called anyuser@skepticfriends.org and delete it.
Cookie problems seem to be common and a new version of this forum has been released. Hopefully the cookies will hold up better.

Well, that seems to be working very nicely once again. Not how do I get all of this sea weed out of my hard drive?
