Well, despite a couple weeks to prepare we are getting bombarded by Code Red Worm scans. Expect slowdowns is all I can say

I don't believe in computer viruses. Like when those morons were so afraid of what was going to happen when 1999 became 2000. HAH! I was in Thailand at the time and my friend over there said she didn't really believe it but wouldn't want to get on an airplane just in case. I told her, buy me a ticket. I had no fear. Next day, she said, ''NormaL, You were right''. Of course I'm always right. People just get too hysterical. Gee, what's the worst thing that can happen?

First, the Code Red Worm is not the same as a virus. This thing sends itself out and requires no clueless human to execute it.
As for y2K, I know of one company that my company works closely with that did not prepare and they were screwed. People lost their jobs and it was generally a disaster. The planes falling out of the sky stuff was just BS to sell books but it was a very real problem. This Code Red Worm is also a significant threat.

Virus, YK2, etc. It's all the same to me, I put it in the same category. Gee @, you are the 1st person to tell me that something happened with the 2000 thing. And knowing you I don't doubt it. Hope they got new jobs. The whole situation just seemed so over done in order to make people buy extra softwear and survival supplies, LOL. I still say, what's the worst thing that could happen. So a few machines go down! People IMO are too dependant on computers. Wait 'till you see my new house, I don't even think I'll have a phone. It's going to be all solar, if possible. What Me Worry!
 I hate computers. |

No computers? Turn off your water, your power, cancel your phone and walk everywhere you go and I will be able accept that you mean it and really know what it's like to not have a computer. I guess you could ride a bike around or ride a horse, but I am sure that computers keep the water supply running and maintain the flow of electric current to your home and make your phone work and they are in cars, keep the busses organized and running smooth. And while you're at it you would have to get rid of the computer you use to access the internet
Yeah we depend on them quite a bit, but it sure would be a bitch to seem them go.

Na! I won't mind. Wait 'till you see my new place. Start saving to come down here next year. The town encourages people to walk and not depend on cars, etc. It's very quaint. It will be a pleasue to feel less rushed. ps. won't I be embarrassed if it doesn't turn out the way I expect.

This reminds me of the Morris worm which bought down the internet in the 80's.
Back when the host on the net were measured in thousands.
Radioactive GM Crops.
Slightly above background.
Safe to eat.
But no activist would dare rip it out.
As they think it gives them cancer. |

Earlier today, I had trouble logging onto Skeptic Friends Network. I waited and went to other sites and came back and connected. Others might have similar short-term problems. They should be told give it a short rest and come back and keep trying.
Perhaps the worm has turned -- deja vu!
