I didn't know whether to put it in politics or religion...I'll let the mods decide!

Anyhoo...Theocracy watch sounds like a good site to check out...maybe I'll even put it in the links section.

Now, as to why we'd need such a site:
here
quote:
DeLay has said bluntly that he intends to smite the "socialist" worldview of "secular humanists," whom, he argues, control the U.S. political system, media, public schools, and universities. He called the 2000 presidential election an apocalyptic "battle for souls," a fight to the death against the forces of liberalism, feminism, and environmentalism that are corrupting America. The utopian dreams of such movements are doomed, argues the majority leader, because they do not stem from God.

And that guy's the god-damned Repulican Majority Whip! Jeesus. No wonder I hear some of you guys talk of moving to Canada and elsewhere!

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

I have heard about this, but I didn't think it was that bad. If that article is to believed, a large group (to large for me) of elected officials believe there is nothing to save for. This can explain the large debt the government has run up, the laxing of environmental laws, anything that they would get a short term benefit from because they believe it will not matter in the long run. Without any evindence to prove it other then the Bible.

From the Enforcing Biblical Laws section:
quote:
Morecraft described democracy as "mob rule," and stated that the purpose of "civil government" is to "terrorize evil doers...To bring down the wrath of God to bear on all those who practice evil!"

Apparently, God can't bring His wrath down without help from state religion. I guess being omnipotent has its limitations!

Besides, if we don't practice evil, how will we ever get any good at it?

There are some seriously scary f'd-up mofos running around the halls of Congress and elsewhere. This is very disturbing.

The foundation of morality is to . . . give up pretending to believe that for which there is no evidence, and repeating unintelligible propositions about things beyond the possibliities of knowledge.

Environmentalism is plaguing America? WTF? WHERE?
Can't we just send THEM up to the Moon?

Why don't they just rename the Republicans, "The Christians Only Party":

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

DeLay pisses me off due to assinine comments like this (made dangerous by virtue of the power he wields) and the bullshit he pulled in Texas redistricting.

DeLay is deserving of nothing more than contempt. He is another of the brave pussies who avoided the Vietnam draft at all cost, but happily supported that asinine war. He is utterly ruthless in his political ambitions as witnessed by the redistricting gerrymander he engineered, and got away with. The fact that he is a fundie Christian means little. He'd be an asshole even if he were an atheist.

He made his fortune in the exterminator business, and the cockroaches he killed were more worthy than he.
