It's always looked pretty occult to me. I guess the difference is in the official standing.

ROME (Reuters) - Forget the new "Exorcist" film, the Vatican is offering the real thing.

A Vatican university said on Thursday it will hold a special "theoretical and practical" course for Roman Catholic priests on Satanism and exorcism in response to what the Church says is a worrying interest in the occult, particularly among the young.

Well, I suppose it's good publicity. What with perverted priests getting so much ink lately, they need to do something. But talk about the pot back-sassing the kettle....

There are several rituals that the church has which are occult in nature.

But when it is not in service to the diety archetype that they prefer, it is deemed inappropriate or evil by way of dogma.

The whole transubstantiation thing is a good one. Communion is an occult rite.

The Benediction is an occult rite.
