| I think I got it: With one lion, the sheep is lunch. With two lions, whichever might eat the sheep would itself be lunch for the remaining lion. With three lions, one is free to pounce on the sheep, and nap while the other two lions eyeball each other. With four lions, the one which might go first would leave the island in a three-lion state, thus itself taking on the role of the sheep, so the sheep goes uneaten. With five lions, one again is free to chow down, leaving a four-lion island in which the one which ate will not itself be eaten. Etc. Even number of lions equals living sheep, odd number of lions means the sheep will be toast, and one lion will nap. |

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

| This has got a little out of hand, I feel.

Are we still asking a riddle here?

 Is that the riddle?

As a way of getting things back on track I will ask this.

"What is the oldest word in any language?"

Hey, if you want to get something back on track, my Puzzles thread needs some major CPR.

Yeah, but your puzzle thread is for brainiacs.

Leave something for us simple folk to chew on.

Sorry, H , not the answer to this particular riddle.

For a clue, the answer is somewhere in this thread for those who have been paying attention.

| You're not calling me a fucking genius are you, DW.

 Them's fightin' words.

Step outside, and if I'm not there in ten minutes, start without me.

Seriously, though, it's just another way of thinking, no more, no less.
