They do what natural laws do I guess. I suppose one could consider God to be synonomous with natural laws or as an entity, hidden behind the scenes, that operates strictly through natural laws.

If there's no evidence, then just what is it that's supposed to be there?
It's not a scientific concept. There is no evidence to support it. It's just a framework intended to fulfill a religious need while avoiding a conflict with science.

And if something is there, then there should be evidence.
Scientific concepts need evidence. This is not a scientific concept. This type of concept can only be accepted by faith.

If you want to believe there is a god that set off the BB and then bowed out, how do you explain all the "Worship Me" crap?
This is not the same scenario as a God that operates through natural laws but that may or may not be relevant as I'm not sure I understand your point. Why would this pose a problem?

I personally do not believe one can be a scientist and never question one's religious beliefs. You'd have to not look so to speak. Because as soon as you took a real good scientific look, you'd have to wonder how it was all these people believe such nonsense.
It really depends on the specific religious beliefs that are held as well as the strength of the individual's need to believe.
