Yes you do. You believe the sun is mass separated because I said so. That's all your are doing in my case, and since you see fit to put words in my mouth for me, I'll just return the favor. You won't give me an answer that I like, so I'll make one up for you, just like you made up an answer for me.

I have no doubt that you'll run like hell from that topic in the next thread, just like you have run like hell from that question for the last 3 threads. Who do you think you are fooling anyway? Do you think anyone actually missed all the dodges and misdirections you've put up rather than answering that simple question?

My focus in this discussion was your claim that the sun had a solid surface and your responsibility to prove that claim. Now that we have that subject resolved, we may put this thread behind us and move on to other things.

Like I said, you only hear what you want to hear, not what I have actually said. You build strawmen out of everything I say anyway, so it really matters very little that I have consistantly stated for 9 months now that the sun has a solid surface. You've already made up your mind what I think, so why do you bother discussing anything with me in the first place?

Michael, you had expressed in no uncertain terms that you believed the sun had a solid surface. You had come to a point where it was no longer clear if you still held that position. I asked you, in no uncertain terms, to make your current view on the matter known. You indicated, in no uncertain terms, that you no longer believe the sun has a solid surface. Here is the exchange...

  • If you believe the sun has a solid surface, reply with the single word, "Yes."

  • The absence of a reply, or any reply other than the single word, "Yes," will be accepted as your acknowledgment that you do not believe the sun has a solid surface.

  • To which you replied...

At any point, if I adamantly and repeatedly state that I hold a particular opinion on a particular issue, and if you become uncertain as to my position on that issue, you are encouraged to ask. I won't balk at replying. So, if and when I express an opinion, one way or another, on the issue of Dr. Manuel's notion about mass separation in the sun, and if you aren't clear at some point, you may ask me to clarify. And I will. Until I've taken a stand on any particular view of that issue, you may simply mark me down as undecided.

I'd like to thank you again for acknowledging that you do not believe the sun has a solid surface. This discussion is complete. Thanks for your time. And remember, you are welcome to open a new thread on a new topic if you like.

I'd like to thank you again for demonstating that it really doesn't matter what I say. It is clear that you are intent on hearing only what you want to hear, not what I actually said. You're evidently quite intent on having a one way conversation with yourself. Having fun?

Just to recap for you Dave:

The assumption issue relates to the initial density of the penumbral filament layer, and determining what it is made of. According to Kosovichev, what are the penumbral filaments made of, and how does he know that the penumbral filaments are composed of that specific material(s)?
