Looks like you need to sign up.

Edit: Beat by 13 seconds...

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Well, it's Cryptomundo, and some of those folks are pretty bizarre. If I were a gambling man, and I am, I'd bet that the mystery beast is a decomposed basking shark. These "plesiosaur" carcass' usually are.

Would like to see a good set of photos, though, preferably unshopped.

Here's the link that worked for me:

http://www.cryptomundo.com/bigfoot-report/sea-serpent-or-plesiosaur/

It looks a lot like the decomposing whale I saw on a beach here in Half Moon Bay a few years ago. Except for the long projection at one end, which may be the spine with a little flesh still clinging to it. As someone noted, no real scale comparison is available.

Perhaps these two links may help...I've read that even Answers in Genesis doesn't use that claim anymore.

Basically, when a basking shark decomposes, that's what it looks like.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

Thanks. The photos (yuck!) certainly make a good case for this being the same as the rotting carcass later identified as a basking shark.

Not entirely sure, not at all -- the photo quality is not all that great, and there is only the one. A couple more from different perspectives would be helpful. A pity the photos aren't more & better because it appears to be not all that badly decomposed (relativly speaking) and should be a fairly easy call. Were I forced to guess, I'd put it at somewhere around 12 to 15 or so feet long, maybe a little more. I'm very roughly figgerin' that by the apparent distance to the water's edge, and this is assuming that the photo hasn't been jiggered.

Heh, the guy is standing well away for good reason. Betcha he's up wind, too.

I really don't see why there is any question. All that is required is a laborarory, and someone with a strong gag reflex to get a sample to sent to it. All would quickly and beyond a doubt, be made clear.

A small whale looks to be an excellent possibility, but I think I'll keep my modest wager on the big shark, at least until more information is forthcoming. Reason: what appears to be the body tapering off to the unseen and probably missing tail looks a little lean to be a whale. It appears much more shark-like. Or maybe that's the plesiosaur's neck.....

God, but I crack myself up, sometimes!

Last time I saw something like that, it was a picture of a badly decomposed basking shark caught in a fishing net.

Yeh, that one was pulled up by a Japanese trawler in the Pacific, and had long since ceased to be a floater -- they die; they sink; they fill with gas and resurface; then, as decomposition advances and opens the carcass, sink again. Kent Hovind is still in orgasmic spasms over that one. He knows that it was plesosaur remains!

With whales, it's sometimes a little different. they die and sink, and resurface, but rather than sinking again due to the floatation properties of the blubber, the flesh decomposes to the point where the skeleton simply falls out of the carcass. Ultimatly what is left is a reeking mass of blubber components that might get washed up somewhere, to the sensitory delight of all who encounter it.

Every so often, we read of one of these "Blobs" and it has, thus far, always been the last bit of a deceased whale.

Sea Serpent or Plesiosaur? Name That Carcass!...

Photos copyright Michael Cenedella and are posted with his written consent. Mr. Cenedella upon research, believes the beastie to be a gray whale.
At the end of the article we read that the critter has been identified. I always find this sort of thing interesting, where the believers in UFOliens, Bigfeet, Nessie and her ilk, etc., will display photos which are known not to be of their crypto-thingies.

A pal of mine is mostly sure that UFOliens visit Earth, so I've hopped around a few web sites to see what sort of material is being presented as evidence of these visitations. I don't recall the particular site, but one was a compilation of dozens of photos of supposed alien UFOs. The captions under many of them stated things like, "... later discovered to be faked," and, "... was eventually determined to be a flock of birds," and such.

It makes me wonder why those photos, the ones which are well accepted to be of things other than the cryptocritters and spaceships, are even presented on those web sites. They certainly don't support the causes. Even the proponents have discarded them as evidence. I guess they place importance on quantity over quality, even if the quality is fully agreed by all parties to be nonexistent.

Ah, more and better pics! I agree, and I lose my wager -- here is your bent nickle.

Why do so many people not do their homework before making speculations & statements? It would certainly spare all concerned a lot of fuss.

But whaddahell, it's all in fun for us -- but for the Nessie believers, not so. They and Kent will cling to the belief of living pleisosaurs to the day they drain the loch.
