Not sure if this is religious or political, but thought it interesting. The Taliban has ordered all Hindus to wear badges. Shades of Hitler?

Yes I was disturbed by this piece of news. It's funny that, like many Christians, I have heard followers of Mohammed proclaim that Islam has a bad image and that it is a religion about love. I'm sure it is that to many of them, but this is a reminder about that that love does not always extend beyond one's own religion. But the problem in the specific case is not just religion. These Taliban guys are real nutcases. You get some big problems when your spiritual leaders go wacko. I loved what the Pakistan government had to say as well.

I wonder how long it will be before these badges go from being worn as protection from the police to a mark for harrassment by the police. Isn't this what happened in Germany?

They are also forcing all non islamic women to wear that cover. IMHO that dehumanizes women in general. True wacko spiritual/political leaders are a scary thought.

Oh, I'm quite sure that there won't be any transitional period at all, as this is the real intent of the badges in the first place. You really think the Taliban has any interest in protecting anybody?

Marks of opression are par for the course when dealing with Christianity, islam, and Judaism. Think circumcision at adolesence for moslems and clitorectomy.

I,m not actually sure about the clitorectomy, that may be an African tribal thing.

Female circumsion as far as I know is primarily an African tribal thing. Though many are now begining to try avoiding it. A friend who runs a hospital in the Sudan area as housed several young women trying to escape the dangerous procedure or treated many who've been subjected to it. They also practice sewing the vagina closed so a man knows his wife/wives have been faithful to him. Sickening!

It was mainly a response to the a$$holes who think that if you don't believe in what they do, you are going to hell.

If you don't care to see it, then don't go! They obviously don't care to see it, and yet, they still go! Must be one of the mysteries of the human race...
