A gay-rights march in the Polish city of Krakow became violent when a rival demonstration of young nationalists held a counter-march yesterday. Police using riot shields and batons kept the two demonstrations apart, the BBC reported.

According to surveys, nine out of 10 Poles believe homosexuality is unnatural in this predominately Catholic nation.
What compels someone to throw eggs at another human being who hasn't hurt anyone, and to do so in the name of a supposedly loving god?

I know, I know - doesn't compare to suicide bombers. But it causes pain and humiliation none-the-less.

These are Catholics of the Vengeful God. Seriously though Catholicism is more violent in its teachings and mentality, than some other Christian sects. See: Mel Gibsons last flick.

Mel Gibson is not any kind of authority in the Catholic Church. He is merely an adherent, and if we're going to judge the Catholic Church by adherents, then at least American Catholics tend toward more modern and tolerant values than many other Christian sects. However, in general I agree with Roman Catholicism has an ugly and violent past, and the policies it endorses today are rather archaic and inhumane.

Gibson is part of a radical subsect of Catholicism. One that has declared every Pope since Vatican II to be apostate and refuse to recognize Vatican II. He is not representative of Catholism as a whole.

OK fine then, how about the poll which said 50% of US Catholics see torture as acceptable. Im just stating reality, Catholic scripture is filled with violence. Im not implying that all Catholics are violent (My entire family is Catholic), but the flick did take in 400Million domestic.
