Happy Towel Day everyone!

In Sweden, at posting time, it's currently already 1½ hours into Towel Day.
I thought I'd be the first to congratulate y'all.

Hadn't know of Towel Day. At first I figured it was something you Swedes invented recently, after establishing an annual Soap and Water Day last year.

I love Doug Adams, too, and will miss his wit. I, too, shall carry the towel tomorrow in his fond memory.

Thanks for the heads up, Dr. Mabuse. I'd let towel day slip my mind this year. I will put one out to take with me tomorrow, and be prepared to spend the day explaining it.

Damn Mab, you beat me to it. I've been watching the calendar for about a month now...

May your travels tomorrow be safe from the ravenous bug blatter beasts.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

I keep some several of towels handy. They are in my vehicles, and in the saddlebags of my motorcycle, as well as around the house. At least one is ready to hand at all times because, well, if a frood doesn't know something like where his towel is, then what the hell does he know?

Oh, man. I totally misread this thread. Boy did I feel like an idiot when I walked into work today holding a trowel.

On the brighter side, I did re-mortar a few loose bricks.

I wondered why I saw so many towels for sale at Ikea today.

I brought one to the theater where I saw X-Men 3. Some guys in the bathroom wondered about it, why the paper towels wheren't good enough. I just smiled and asked "Have you read Hitchhiker's?"
"Yeah?"
"Then you know what the towel is for. It's the international Towel Day today."
"Oh... Right..." (smiling)

All well that ends well. Leaving the cinema, people were to busy to notice the towel.

During an RPG session last night, I said, "So this is it. We're going to die," out of respect for International Towel Day. Is that good enough?

Excuse my highjacking, but what did you think of X-men?

It was good. A little more of Kitty and Colossus. The Poenix-story re-written from the comic book. Major deviation from the "X-Men" mythos/story. None the less, great character interaction, good FX, good plot. I recommend the movie, as I really enjoyed it, despite the deviations from the original stories.
No matter what personality Famke Janssen plays, she excells. As does Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen and Patric Stewart. And Vinnie Jones is always a howler...

Good. A coworker of mine is holds the comic books as dogma, and definitely didn't like it. He is also uber-christian...coincidence?
