Hello (and goodbye) to 'Chappelle's Show'
Final episodes of comedy program assembled for air

NEW YORK (AP) -- Comedy Central couldn't resist the easy joke, opening the aborted third season of "Chappelle's Show" Sunday with a shot of an empty stage and introduction of a star who never appears.

It's the first of three episodes compiled from sketches left behind before Dave Chappelle's now legendary freakout, walking out on a $50 million contract and one of TV's hottest shows two years ago under still mysterious circumstances.

Well, if he was so stressed out by his show.... then I understand why he quit.

But I could put up with ALOT of stress for $50M.

It remains to be seen if his career can survive his "freak-out".

Good comedians are often indistinguishable from crazy folks. A bizarre personality seems often to come like unwanted baggage with along with that rare and wonderful talent of being able to make people laugh. For this reason, I cut comedians a lot of slack that I would not give to others.

Dave Chappelle is a master of comedy. But if I were a programming director at a TV network, I sure would be careful about signing a contract with anyone who'd pulled a stunt like Chappelle did.
