Some of you know Ernie Schreiber from Snake's mailing list and others. This is an interesting article about the theism of the Nazis:

http://eunacom.net/Gottglaube.htm

quote:
The Roman-Catholic Church courted the Nazis–particularly as fighters against atheistic Bolshevism–for a long time. Once it dawned on them that the Nazis did not allow a separation between loyalties to the state and the church and were intent on imposing their ideology on the spiritual world of religion, they realized that they leaned a bit too much out their window toward the pro-Nazi world, but a retreat and real distancing did not happen. Hitler remained to his death a non-disciplined member of the Catholic church. The critique issued by Pope Pius XI (Encyclia "With Burning Worries") almost exclusively concerned itself with the defense of the powers and influence of the church.

YO: Thanks for the link to Gottglaube. GOAT-glau-buh

(glau rhymes with now)

When you add the corporatism (or fascism) of Mussolini to this "religion" linked for us by Gorgo (SFN Addict), you don't have Islamic fascism, but one of another stripe. Now, I bet you can guess what kind that is.

Richard Wagner's opera, 'Parsifal,'his last, was an artistic inspiration for germanic pride.

Wagner's children were big fans of Adolf. Wagner died about three years before Hitler was born. And interestingly, Wagner, in his 20's, was a radical socialist.

This is why it's important for all us that George W. Bush look up the definition of irony.

I don't know this as fact, but the notion that German Nazis were atheists may obtain from Wagner being one. If anyone knows about that for sure, please let me know. Wagner was a rather nihilistc bloke, quite eccentric and exceedlingly talented. He is actually the composer who paved the musical path to cinematic music as we know it today.

The Catholic Church has done pretty near to nothing to cry out against Irish Catholic terrorism too. I think it comes down to misplaced priorities that put the institution of the church before human welfare.

I wonder if George Bush is dreaming of being the next Messiah:

quote:
The text included the following: "Immediate and unconditional abolition of all religious creeds after the final victory, and not only in the Pan-German lands but also in all liberated, occupied, and annexed countries (...) Concomitant with the proclamation of Adolf Hitler as the new Messiah." From those [creeds to be abolished] are to be exempted, at first, "for political considerations(...) The Mohammedan, Buddhist as well as the Shinto faith." The Führer is to be presented as a middle between redeemer and liberator–at any rate, however, as a messenger from God, who is entitled to godly honors. The existing churches, chapels, temples and cult-centers of the various religious denominations are to be converted into ‘Adolf Hitler Sanctuaries'." The theological faculties at universities ought to be sworn in on the Führer-religion and "should put special emphasis on the training of traveling preachers ... who have to announce the creed to the remaining world and to establish communities of the faithful. (...) As a paragon may serve the ‘Knights of the Grail' from Lohengrin (...). The origin of Hitler is to be disguised even further by means of corresponding propaganda, just as his future departure has to take place in total darkness (return to the Castle of the Holy Grail)."
