I didn't want this to get lost in the gazillion pages of Dave vs Michael so try to keep the two separate despite the obvious related issue of you can't convect in 11 year cycles if you are as viscous as a solid.

Single sunspot polarity reversal could be the first sign a new cycle is arriving.

I thought this was fascinating.
