In a wonderful article in the November/December 2006 issue of Skeptical Inquirer, Italian skeptic Massimo Polidoro details just how James Randi managed to pull off a "psychic" trick on Italian TV.

Randi and Polidoro

This short article demonstrates how being mentally nimble is far more valuable in pulling off a deception than having some kind of secret armamentarium of magician's tricks. The actual methods used by Randi were quite prosaic, but took clever advantage of distraction and timing. Reading this left me both nodding (but not nodding off) and smiling.

I just read part two this morning. It's even better than the first. And he promises even more in part three.

Super, Dave! I can't wait for more! Polidoro writes very well.

Where did you find part two? Do you have the latest SI?

Is that the one with Marf and Beskeptigal in it? Or the one with Fithy and Kil in it?
