I reguarly read Chuck Shepard's collum at:
http://www.newsoftheweird.com/archive/index.html

If you are interested in a bit more wired news I suggest you read the Rotten News collum at
http://www.dailyrotten.com/

Don't panic no pictures of dead bodies or animals having sex in the news section, but one should be prepared to face such stories as:
Mortician reselling bodies for fun and profit
Robber leaves prosthetic behind
Doctor claims he is treating Elvis

The this year in history part is cool, too. Informing us about a wide variety of historical stuff that happend on the current date.

I'm wondering why I am even brothering reading the Onion anymore when truth is som much stranger then fiction.

Um, ok, let's throw a violent temper tantrum because a movie is too violent. Great way to get your point across. It's a movie about good v. evil where people carry swords and bows. Of course it's going to be violent. Yeesh! If you don't want to see violence in movies, don't go see movies with violent content.

It was outlawed by the folks who think that letting their kids read "Harry Potter" will turn them into broom riding demon worshippers.

Some more things that happened in the past month(warning: conspiracies, Krispy Kreme burglaries and April Fool's ice cream flavors abound):

quote:
And, in the Last Month ...

Thierry Meyssan's book "The Frightening Fraud" became a best seller in France with its thesis that the U.S. government staged the attack on the Pentagon on Sept. 11. Two people commandeered a Krispy Kreme truck with its back door open and led police on a chase that created a 15-mile-long trail of scattered doughnuts (Slidell, La.). A nursing home complained that the unionizing vote by its workers should be overturned since someone put a series of voodoo signs around the workplace, thus frightening the home's large Haitian-American work force (Miami). The annual April Fool's ice cream flavor this year at the Wahlburger restaurant was vanilla diced with hamburger sandwiches (bun, lettuce, meat); last year, french fries were used (Avon, N.Y.). No, and for several reasons.
First, there are other modes of transportation that won't upset the local air traffic authorities quite so much.
Second, they just don't make brooms like they used to. If you've ever lost bristles at a couple of thousand feet, you know what I mean. That new "Swifter" thingy doesn't cut it. There's no room for the cat.
