I know, it's just one comment from Ray's site, but it still chills me to hear this.
"Loving" and "just" god, my ass.
It's sentiments like that that show the anti-human side of religion: then that means that the OT babies that god killed are screwed.

That stupidity has been a solid talking point for fundalmentlist twits for as long as I can remember, and it's even been fished up out of the various Bibilcal hissyfits, although I forget chapter & verse (if I ever knew them). Actually, there is a case to be made for Hell -- I believe it was Mark Twain who said: "Heaven for the comfort, Hell for the company."
I mean, really, who would want to spend eternity under the thumb of a raving psychopath? At least Satan has demonstrated free thought in rebelling against the asshole.

I don't know for sure but I think Twain meant it would be lonely in Heaven since most everyone's going to Hell. It was Billy Joel who sang "I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints, the sinners are much more fun" which is, I think, more in line with your sentiment. |
