It seems that Ken Ham is teaming up with Ray Comfort. Sheez! I thought that if Kent Hovind was too much of a wingnut for Ham to endorse, that Comfort most certainly would be. Apparently not.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

If this thing was in Los Angeles, I think I'd go.

I doubt it-- the registration fee is $99!

I did some checking into the church where this will be held. The preacher, Johnny Hunt, regularly has special conferences. These cost about $45 to attend. And it looks like they regularly sell over 7,000 tickets.

When you do the math, that's over $315,000 per conference.

We have to imagine that these Way of the Master people are also looking to bring 7,000 people or so-- meaning the total gate for the conference will be around $700,000!

Indeed, more research shows that the church does have a 7,000 seat arena, er, worship center.

I'm going to wager that this is paid for with church funds-- the donations made by church-goers. I wonder what sort of fee Pastor Johnny pays to rent out his own church's worship center to host his huge conference money-makers??

Something tells me ol' Pastor Johnny is rich through his little ministry racket.

Edit: I'm right:
The latest addition is described as "the crown jewel" of church facilities in Georgia and encompasses 435,000 square feet of floor space. The new facility includes a cavernous worship center with 7,500 theater-type seats, five video cameras and two large video screens on either side of the 400-seat choir area.

The entrance of the worship center opens up to a three-story atrium with a skylight at the top. Two escalators and a set of stairs are at either side of the atrium; and above the sanctuary a 60-foot cross adorns the peak of the copula.

Other features include 52,000 square feet of preschool space, a music suite, an orchestral rehearsal suite, practice rooms and recording areas, adult classrooms, a world missions information area, large altar counseling area with 20 individual rooms, and a 2,050 square foot visitor's reception area.

The $54 million sanctuary with all of its amenities is being paid for through the church's tithes; and church leaders believe the $46.5 million debt will be retired in less than 10 years.

That's not out of reach for me. And given the quality of the speakers, I'm sure I could get a Kil Report out of it.

But of course, it's not in LA.

Well... SFN certainly has members in Georgia.
Maybe you should delegate this one?

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

Hehe.
As for myself; I'd need to rent a car (it's 5 hours away and my good old wanker-mobile does not handle long distance very well).

So, it is still within the realm of possibilities but there should be little trouble finding a better candidate.

I will definitively mention it to my atheist club tonight, though.
