She's just another tool in the box. It is really about Christian domination of American life.
For Palin, It's a (Christian) Man's World
by Chris Hedges

Sarah Palin may be a governor and a vice presidential candidate, but in the hyper-masculine world of the Christian right she is subservient to a male hierarchy that claims to speak for God.
This is a very interesting read and neatly demonstrates why Dobson and his ilk are so enamored of her. Were I a less generous person, I'd think that they nominated her and not McCain (who has become just another tool as well).

I dunno, Filthy. The article is long on assertions, and short on refrences. I'm no fan of Palin, but I need more evidence that she "believes violence against nonbelievers is ultimately part of her religious life", or that she has been taught to ready herself to "engage in a final cataclysmic clash with the forces of Satan." I know Dobsin would like to bring us back to the dark ages, but his support of Palin does not mean SHE supports it.

leoofno, this isn't just rumor and insinuation. Palin has long attended one of those insane end-time churches that pushes young Earth creationism and rapture theology. One reporter writes:
Munger also asked Palin if she truly believed in the End of Days, the doomsday scenario when the Messiah will return. "She looked in my eyes and said, 'Yes, I think I will see Jesus come back to earth in my lifetime.'"
So if she believes Jesus is coming back in her lifetime, it probably isn't going to be to read bedtime stories. She must buy into the whole "final cataclysmic clash with the forces of Satan" bit as well.

And if you have the stomach for some real crazy, here's a video showing life inside of Palin's church. It's a bit long and amateurish, but much of what goes on is 100% certifiable religious lunacy. Congregates believe they are living in a time of wonders and miracles. Watch as a seemingly normal middle age woman shakes on camera as she describes how a man was raised from the dead in Wasilla. This is a church in the full grip of religious hysteria. It's a kind of mania. The thought that a member of this church could be the next VP is truly terrifying.

I agree, but only up to a point.

It takes my box forever to load a video, so I seldom bother, but I'm loading HH's now. I'll probably watch it sometime after The Rapture.

But I've got a pretty good idea of what at least some of it will show because I've seen the old tent revivals in the '50s (had a girlfriend who was off the deep end). They were pretty wild, and these people believed!

I cannot say that Palin is hooked on this crap, but it'd not suprise me in the least to discover that she is. 20 years in one church speaks volumes. Which brings me to a little speculation: was she really a spur of the moment choice, or did, almost at the very beginning, the Dobson Clique wind McCain's testes up in a smithy's vise and tell him: "Or else!"

Again, I dunno, but if I were a prayin' man, I'd pray we'd never have to find out.
