Then we can become really good Catholics. Heh, according to this, education is the reason Church attendance & membership is declining. It certainly couldn't be Church policies such as covering up priest pedophilia and encouraging the afore-mentioned ignorance along with knee-jerk intolerance toward others, now could it?

The Rt Rev Patrick O'Donoghue, the Bishop of Lancaster, has claimed that graduates are spreading scepticism and sowing dissent. Instead of following the Church's teaching they are "hedonistic", "selfish" and "egocentric", he said.
In particular, the bishop complained that influential Catholics in politics and the media were undermining the Church.
While not naming names, he suggested that such people had been compromised by their education, which he said had a "dark side, due to original sin".

Yeah, ain't it a bitch when folks get a few book-smarts and begin thinking for themselves? You just can't trust 'em to toe the mark drawn by even the largest of the world's cults religions. Oh, what's a poor bishop to do?
