The Incredible & Brave Nate Phelps! from Richard Haynes Life Without Faith blog. It opens with this intruduction:
If you were fortunate enough to attend the American Atheist Convention in Atlanta, you were obviously moved by the incredible speech of Nate Phelps. If you are not familiar with Nate, he is the estranged son of the Pastor of Westboro Baptist Church, Fred Phelps ( Godhatesfags.com).
My wife and I had the honor of taking Nate and his fiancée out to dinner, and we immediately hit it off. It was as if we had been friends for years. Not only did we share similar backgrounds, Nate and I shared a desire to help others find life after Christian fundamentalism. We have started a support group and welcome all to join.
I asked Nate if he would be willing to write about his experiences before and after his talk. He graciously accepted and his article is below. |

i knew that name was familiar as soon as I saw it!
I read his and his family's history a few years back. Thanks for the links.

It's so nice to see one of the Phelps Klan sane and doing well independently of the WBC. Nate Phelps sound like a fine fellow.

On a related note, Fred and Shirley have managed to make the UK's list of people barred from entering the country.

If only we could bar him from leaving Kansas.
The only other American to make the list is Michael Weiner (AKA Savage) who, frankly, can't hold a candle to Fred. |

You's think I'd learn to read everything before posting. Another American, Stephen Donald Black, made the list too. KKK Grand-Poobah or something.
Then they mention that Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart have been on it. "The List" doesn't seem quite as exclusive as it did at first, not that Fred and Shirley don't deserve to be there. |

Hmm; Fred & Shirley. Sounds like a Vaudeville song & dance team, doesn't it? The down side to this is that if they were in England, they wouldn't be here and now they can't go. Bummer.
