Seems our Denyse got an interview with none other than the Turkish twit, Adnan Oktar. She's all a'flutter over it.
I became interested years ago when a Turkish friend kindly sent me a number of the books produced by Adnan Oktar and his associates, under the pen name Harun Yahya. I finally got a chance to correspond with him. Here are his responses to my questions. (I will also shortly post a review of Evolution Deceit, the most succinct and comprehensive of the critiques of overblown claims for Darwinian evolution that I have ever read.)

O'LEARY: How did you become interested in the evolution controversies? The conventional wisdom offered by many media sources in North America is that doubts about Darwin are a product of American evangelical Christianity in the deep rural South, and can only be understood with reference to that culture. Unless I have lost the plot, your doubts could not stem from that culture. From what, then, did they stem?

ADNAN OKTAR: I realized while I was still in high school that there was something odd about World War I, World War II and revolutions. Because people do not suddenly wake up one day and decide to start slaughtering their neighbors or ruining and devastating a country. I did some investigation and saw that the Darwinist materialist mindset lies behind all wars, revolutions and anarchy. I was terribly distressed by the way people were suffering so much, by the oppression and injustice they were being subjected to, and decided to wage an intellectual campaign against Darwinism to the utmost of my powers.
It's worth a read, if only to get a recap on creationist blather. I am happy for Denyse because she has finally met a soulmate; one that is even a sillier than herself.

So are they applying "the Darwinist materialist mindset" retroactively? There is a whole lot of history before Darwin came along. And not just a few of those wars were fought to spread Christianity to the heathens.

Idiots.

Adnan Oktar:
Yet we have come up with 100 million fossils, fossils belonging to fully formed and perfect life forms that all show evolution never happened, and they have no rational answer to give. A profound silence reigns whenever the subject of fossils is raised. And everyone can see that. That is why Darwinists are desperately striving to keep Darwinism propped up with slogans and propaganda.

Okay, he is just insane. Or a liar. Both probably.

Both. Think of him as a sort of an Islamic Kent Hovind.
Adnan Oktar (born Ankara, 1956), also known by his pen name Harun Yahya, is a prominent advocate of Islamic creationism in the creation-evolution debate. He is considered by some to be the leading Muslim advocate of creationism,[1] and in particular he supports Old Earth creationism.[2][3] He is against Zionism and Freemasonry and sees them as very interrelated movements, though he denounces anti-Semitism[4] and terrorism[5], which he says is a product of Darwinism, not religious fanaticism.[6] Oktar had defended his views by litigation; he is responsible for the blocking of numerous, high-profile Web sites in Turkey.

Oktar runs two organizations, including the Milli De#287;erleri Koruma Vakf#305; (Foundation to Protect National Values) which focuses on "moral issues" and the Science Research Foundation (Bilim Ara#351;t#305;rma Vakf#305;, or BAV), which is centered around promoting creationism.[7] Oktar founded the Science Research Foundation "to [establish]...peace, tranquility and love,"[8[ though the BAV is described in the media as "a secretive Islamic sect"[9] or a "cult-like organization, that jealously guards the secrets of its considerable wealth."[10] In 2008, he was sentenced by a Turkish court to three years in prison for "creating an illegal organization for personal gain."[11]
