Ed Brayton has the story on that, as well as the video.

You have to listen to this bizarre, angry screed from Glenn Beck. He absolutely goes off on a caller over healthcare, literally screaming incoherently at her and finally telling her to get off his phone and calling her a pinhead. O'Reilly would be proud. Why the hell does anyone listen to this nut?

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

It's intellectually difficult for me to understand how a man like Beck, filled only with venom and lies, makes any impact at all on his listeners.

How can people listen to the incoherent hateful ravings of a man who seems psychotic? I suppose the only answer must be that like attracts like. Thinking of the millions who listen to Beck's bullying tirades truly frightens me.

Are you saying that Glenn Beck is homeopathic?

If you mean, are his brain cells so diluted with water that his cranium probably contains none of them, then yes.

That's a good one
Indeed, and a true one.

Only distantly related, but related nevertheless:
7/21/2009
Right Wingers Ready for Violence to Defend the Rich, White Way of Life:

Lost amid the sublime delights of hearing Glen Beck totally lose his shit and screech like a wounded weasel in a bear trap on his radio show was his suggestion on the July 13 edition of his Fox "news" show, The Cleveland Steamer with Glenn Beck, that people should arm themselves for a coming revolution. No, really. In a conversation with NRA CEO Wayne "That Is a Gun in My Pants and I'm Not Happy to See You" LaPierre over whether Sonia Sotomayor would interpret the 2nd Amendment the way they believe it ought to be interpreted, Beck offered, "Would you say that our president or our government's stock market really is gun sales. That when gun sales go down -- everybody wants to say, 'Well, I protect guns for hunters,' even though -- I mean, look, I came from a family of hunters. I get it. But that's not -- the Founding Fathers weren't like, 'Well, we might want to go out and, you know, shoot some squirrel.' They did it because of an out-of-control government. And as gun sales go up, that's because we don't trust the government. That is -- that is the fundamental guttural understanding of the Second Amendment. People don't trust the government, they go out and buy a gun."

And so forth. The whole thing is worth a read.

Anyone who doesn't know what a "Cleveland steamer" is, will have to lookitup 'cause it's disgusting enough that even I don't care to talk about it. Unfortunately, it represents exactly the outpourings of the right-wing media as represented by FOX Nooz and their affiliates, and of some more or less free-lancers such as Limbaugh and the Savage Wiener all too well.

They are a blight on the national discourse; a festering, fungal infection on nation's intellect. They are deserving of nothing but scorn and, as we no longer do public pillorying, vicious ridicule every time they slither out from under the conservative dung heaps wherein they dwell. They should, as the Rude Pundit would so delicately put it, be sodomized with their own microphones. Sideways!

They are unworthy of any respect whatsoever and certainly no attention other than that described above. Further, those brain-spavined fools who actually believe in their verbal defections need to go into reality therapy in order to get their heads back straight -- they've been bent into weird shapes ever since the total ass, Reagan, was in office, and that's too way long.

But I'm sure that for as long as Beck and the rest continue to felch Reagan's once-rotting-now-dessicated corpse for their corporate masters, the information we recieve, not just from FOX, but from it's diluted counterparts as well, will continue to suffer the lies and deceit they spew forth in their semi-coherent hysteria.

Oh, and if anyone doesn't know the meaning of "to felch," they can look that'n up as well.

Well, if we got to flimsily related bitching about fox News, here is a clip from Fox News were the analyst recommend to let the Taliban kill a captured US soldier.

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

While I do think FOX news and right-wing radio talking heads are awful, I do disagree with the rude pundit including Olbermann and Maddow in the list of awful shows in purgatory. Olbermann and Maddow are both generally informative, I'm not sure there is any educational value in watching FOX.

There is great educational value in watching FOX Nooz. It teaches you all about how propaganda works. There's just no informational value in it. Maddow and Obermann too, are propagandists albeit more truth-oriented than the rest. Which was pretty much the point of RP's screed.

I think the Rude Pundit's point was about partisan reporting, regardless of the degree and orientation.
Also, in my personal biased opinion, it would be difficult to find as dishonest as Beck or O'Reilly on the left.

Yes, that was also my take on the inclusion of Olberman and Maddow. It wasn't that they are bad or dishonest like the NeoCon talking heads, simply that they are representative of there being too much opinion presented as if it were news. Of course, most of that is purely in the control of GOP/Fox. There needs to be some real journalism going on, with dashes of diverse opinion on the side.
