Just got back a visit to Comedy Central Uncommon Descent and brought this hilarious act along with me. During it, our Cornelius compares evolution to astrology and cracks other jokes worhty of a chuckle.

It seems he has a problem with Jerry Coyne speaking at the U of Alabama, or something.
Jerry Coyne visited the University of Alabama last week to explain why evolution is true. Of course the "truth" of evolution comes from religious conviction. With religion one can say that evolution is as much a fact as is gravity. The claim makes no sense from a scientific perspective. It is not that evolutionists have made an error. They did not make a mistake in their calculations or misread a scientific observation. Their claim that evolution is as obvious as gravity is not really a mistake at all. It isn't even wrong--it simply is not scientific. Evolution is as obvious as gravity just like astrology is as obvious as gravity. These people clearly are playing by a different set of rules.

Actually, as he linked to his blog for this, I suspect he's fishing for hits as well. There are a couple more articles in the same vein following this one. Anyhow, as seen in the quote, he's singing the same old religion song. At least he's not dragging his osteopath friend into it with him.

Well, old Corny's a slick liar, but not so funny. But I do love it whenever Creos insist on calling evolution (or fundies insist on calling atheism) "religion." That's the nastiest word they can think of. They suspect it hurts our tender feelings. But really, it's the irony, the stupid, the hypocrisy and the projection that really burns us.

Cornelius has been doing this number (evolution is religion) for what seems like two ice-ages now. It tends to go something like this:

Premise: Some evolutionists compare evolutionary predictions to creationist predictions (regarding what a god would have done).
Premise: Creationism is religious.
Conclusion: Evolution is religion.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense to me either, but the UD regulars buy it.
