It's long past time. I don't fault Obama (much) for this taking a few months. If he can accomplish even most of his campaign promises in his first term, that will be almost revolutionary compared to the Lesser Dark Age of the Bush years.

The subject of patriotic and brave gays serving in the military has been an apparently intractable problem since well before Clinton agreed to the idiotic DADT "compromise" which was worse even than the outright discrimination that went before. (Bill Clinton now regrets that decision.)

Gays and supporters of fairness have kept the President's feet to the fire, as is proper. Gays and we who supported their rights should be credited even more than Obama with the upcoming overturning of DADT.
