This is gonna go over like a bean fart in church -- only in California, eh?
This is hilarious, it's also for real. Activists in California are taking the Prop 8 stupidity to its very logical conclusion: ban divorce in California for everybody. Want defense of marriage? Sign here.

NPR:

Marcotte needs 694,354 valid signatures by March 22, a high hurdle in a state where the typical petition drive costs millions of dollars. Even if his proposed constitutional amendment made next year's ballot, it's not clear how voters would react.

Nationwide, about half of all marriages end in divorce.

Not surprisingly, Marcotte's campaign to make divorce in California illegal has divided those involved in last year's campaign for and against Proposition 8.

I've been saying that for years. Just never tried to actually implement it.

Gee. Even living here I hadn't heard about that one yet. So, the protestants want to go part way back to being Catholic in their approach to marriage, or more specifically, divorce?

Well, at least our state isn't boring...

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

It's gay-rights activists who are putting this thing forward, Kil, probably just to make a point.

Watch the video. It's styled after the Prop-8 ads from last year, but says things like, "Children of single-parent homes are repulsive and unlovable," and "If we allow anyone to get divorced, before you know it, people will be divorcing their dogs."

In other words, Poe's Law caught you.

The activists' web site has more funny stuff.
