Hat tip to Ed Brayton for linking to this article. It's a fine summary of the case, which involves John Freshwater, a middle school science teacher who has for years been teaching fundamentalist Christianity Creationism in his classroom.

Only after Freshwater was caught electrically burning crosses into the arms of his students with a Tesla coil was action finally taken against him by his Mt. Vernon, Ohio school board. Notice how often and baldly Freshwater has outright lied -- and been caught in his lies -- during his administrative hearings.

I followed the Freshwater saga at the Thumb for quite a while before giving it up.

This is indeed, quite a good summery of the situation.

However it works out, Freshwater won't likely be teaching in the public schools again, and good riddance.

Not good enough, he shouldn't even be walking the streets again.
