I'm just curious why the TV preachers haven't condemned TN and Nashville for something yet. I mean, they said it was god striking down New Orleans with Katrina because of all the "sinners", they said 9/11 was "god lifting his hand of protection" off the US because NYC is a bunch of sinners....

Odd that the home of country music isn't also suffering this disaster because god is pissed at them, isn't it?

I'm sure it's just another one of God's tantrums.

I think it's because Chely Wright came out of the closet.

I'm just guessing, of course, but could it be that preachers like Pat Robertson have discovered that they simply piss off their Bible Belt supporters when they blame them for natural disasters? Maybe these doomsayers have decided to restrict their condemnations to far-away foreign places like Haiti, Europe and San Francisco, where they have few paying followers to irritate.

Where have you guys been living, they will just blame America's 'faults' for the punishment. It doesnt have to be TNs fault.

Intrigued by the question, and knowing that that particular god is always pissy about something, I looked around a bit. I came up with some interesting results:
Our Guns Are Way More Important Than Your Disasters:

While a good chunk of Nashville, which, in addition to being Music City, is also the capital of Tennessee, was underwater this week, the legislature kept at its job of making the Volunteer State safer for drunks. Yes, as residents of middle Tennessee were driving boats around the streets of their neighborhoods, wondering how much FEMA was gonna come through for the many homeowners without flood insurance, the state House passed a bill that had been previously passed by the Senate, both by veto-proof majorities, which allows people with carry permits to bring their guns into anywhere that lets you drink, and "That includes restaurants, nightclubs, honky-tonks, country clubs and any other place with an alcohol license, including places such as the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga." Honky-tonks and aquariums? Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker, indeed.

But they still can't pack heat in the churchs, and God loves him some deadly violence in-his-name so much that he's decided to drown the whole shitaree -- where have we heard that before?

"What luck for rulers that men do not think." -- Adolf Hitler (1889 - 1945)

Maybe God wanted to wash away the creation museum and due to continental drift missed by one state. I can almost hear Him, say in His best booming voice "God damn it, I missed". SS

Because quite a few of the far right fundies are from around Nashville. Can't say that it's because God is pissed at them for telling lies about his son...... or somethin......

Actually, that would be, "Me damn it, I missed". I doubt that God would refer to himself in the third person, ala Bob Dole.
