Is how this guy and his friends might start off their explanation of why they set his prosthetic leg afire, then dumped him 'side the road.
A 47-year-old man's friends set his prosthetic leg on fire after he lost a drinking bet, causing him to suffer severe burns to his buttocks and lower back. Dona Ana County sheriff's deputies found the man naked on the side of U.S. Route 70 with his prosthetic leg in flames. Deputies learned that the man and his friends were drinking Monday and bet that whoever drank the least would be set on fire.

The man told investigators that at six beers, he drank the least, and agreed to let his friends set him on fire.

He said his friends ignited his prosthetic leg, and the flames spread to his body.

The sheriff's office said the man took his clothes off because of the pain and his friends decided to take him to the hospital. But they got nervous and instead dropped him off on the side of the highway.

The man was taken to a Texas burn treatment center.

Why am I having a problem working up a little sympathy for this idiot? Also, I wonder if he's learned anything....

Probably not; anyone stupid enough to get drunk enough (6 beers my ass; this fool had to be totally wasted!) to go along with something like this shows little promise for future improvement. I wonder if he owns firearms.....

I'm not that worried about him owning firearms, but he probably drives and votes.

Clearly a case of lost friends and opportunities.

What kind of a friend is HE? He makes a bet, loses, then squeals to the cops! Just because he's burnt, naked and missing a leg. What a pansy. He should have told the cops he suffered spontaneous combustion and had to take off his clothes. Like this but in reverse. Now his friends are going to think he's some kind of a moron. Talk about "birds of a feather". He could have made a tonne of money doing the talk shows like Oprah, Montel and Larry king. What hot shows they would have been. SS

The problem is that these people always seem to live just long enough to procreate.

These guys should be nominated for this year's Darwin Award.

Can't. He has to remove himself from the gene pool (ie, die) for that. Although, if he burned his balls of he could possibly get an honorable mention

Actually, I think it would count as a genuine Darwin Award, as long as he is unable to procreate. The important part of the award is to remove his genes from the gene-pool, and by getting himself neutered, he doesn't have to die.
