This is something that has been bothering me for a couple of years.

Happy Cows

Their ad campaign claims that cows in California are happier than they are here in Wisconsin. I have researched this claim and have found no type of scientific study that has been done on the subject. I have a number of questions.

1.) How do you measure a cow's happiness?
2.) Are they assuming because it is frozen here in Wisconson half the year that it makes the cows unhappy? I dunno, we people here in Wisconsin are generally a pretty happy bunch.(to be fair we do have beer to help us which the cows do not)
3.) Is it assumed that the increased happiness of the cows produces a better quality dairy product?

I dunno; what might the alcohol content of silage as it ferments with age be? Perhaps all cows, the dairy ones anyway, are happy.
