I tried. I really tried to stay up and see the eclipse, but couldn't make it. Oh well; there'll be another Winter Solstice, full moon eclipse in a few centuries. We'll just have to wait for that one.

So anyhow, wishing all the denizens of SFN the best of the season:

When chimney smoke hangs still and low
Across the stubbled fields of snow,
And angry skies reach down and seize
The sorry blackened bones of trees.
In the dead of winter when the silent snowbirds come,
You're my sweet maple sugar, honey, hot buttered rum.

When dreary Christmas decorations
Line the streets and filling stations,
And dime store Santas can't disguise
Their empty hands and empty eyes.
In the dead of winter when the tinsel angels come,
You're my sweet maple sugar, honey, hot buttered rum.

When gloves and boots and woolen parkas
Bring cold comfort to the heart,
And bitter memories freeze the tongue
And words of love are left unsung.
In the dead of winter when the cold feelings come,
You're my sweet maple sugar, honey, hot buttered rum
~~ Tommy Thompson.

Mmmmm... hot buttered rum. Maybe I'll make that to drink tonight while I light all my candles.

Speaking of Christmas warriors...

(excerpt follows):
> I'm looking to teach these two bastards a lesson they'll never forget.
> Personal visit by mates of mine. No violence, just a wee little chat.
> **** has also committed more crimes than you can count with his
> incitement of hatred against a religion. That law came in about 2007
> much to ****'s ignorance. That is fact and his writing will become well
> know as well as him becoming a publicly known icon of hatred.
> Good luck with that fuckwit. And Reynold, fucking run, and don't stop.
> Disappear would be best as it was you who dared to attack me on my
> illness knowing nothing of the cause. You disgust me and you are top of
> the list boy. Again, no violence. Just regular reminders of who's there
> and visits to see you are behaving. Nothing scary in reality. But I'd
> still disappear if I was you.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

I wanted so much to be able to withness this eclipse but the dark clouds which are currently snowing on us prevented it.
So disappointed.

I woke my kids up and we sat outside and watched the eclipse while drinking hot chocolate and eating popcorn. It was a great time, they ask alot of questions and it fun to dial up the internet to show them diagrams of what is happening.

Santa Claus came down the flue
His nose was red, his balls were blue
He said "I'm getting too damned old
To fly around out in the cold.
The wind blows at a Hellish pace
while reindeer farts assault my face.
And don't the parents even think
to leave me just a little drink?
Ah well" he said, "It's just one night,
tomorrow the elves and I get tight!"
