Not me. Cat's shit in a box!!!

I have no problem with the cat shit in a box. My problem is that box being in the same house as me.

No need to walk them.

Actually if I am feeling lazy I can just step out onto my back porch with a tennis ball and she will play fetch until I quit throwing the ball or she drops over from exhaustion. And in the dead of winter our walks are my main source of breaking cabin fever. We go on walks in the woods and fields located behind our backyard until we reach the river and then we turn around. It's all so pretty when covered in snow. We usually see a good share of wildlife as well. Last week we scared up a huge owl of some kind. This thing was the size of a turkey buzzard. A majestic raptor for sure.

(I can't understand how it bothers Bill to have a cat box, but it doesn't bother him to pick up fresh dog shit that hasn't been dried by litter.)

Because the cat box is in the same contained living quarters as I am. The dog stuff is outside in the backyard, where I do not live. And when it comes time to clean the yard I have a handle activated scoop on the end of 4 ft long pole that I use to pick it up.

Plus, they are low maintenance in other ways. And they are cooler than dogs. No stupid pet tricks for a cat.

If you want something that is low maintenance and sits around doing nothing then get a pillow pet. They are low maintenance and sit around doing nothing and don't stink the room up with their excretions. If I lived in a condo or apartment then I would have fish. They do everything a cat does, which is nothing, and they don't need a box.

Golly, Lily & Double

On November 8, 2003 Tammy Ogle of Marshfield was traveling on Highway M through the Chequamegon National Forest in Taylor County. Riding along in the back of her SUV were her Labrador Retrievers, Double and Golly, both three-years old, and Lily, one-and-a-half. Tammy lost control of her vehicle as she was approaching a narrow bridge. Her SUV struck the bridge, flipped and rolled multiple times, ejecting Tammy through the passenger window.

Double, Golly, and Lily managed to escape from the wreckage. Tammy lay unconscious with several injuries, including 10 broken ribs, three facial fractures, and severe head injuries. Double stayed by her side as Golly and Lily ran a half-mile down the road to the nearest house. A man came to the door after hearing Golly and Lily's scratching and barking. Golly tugged his sleeve to get him to follow out to the road. The man saw Tammy's overturned SUV in the distance and quickly called 911. An ambulance arrived and transported Tammy to the nearest hospital.

Tammy's condition was so severe that the doctors immediately had her sent by helicopter to a larger hospital that had a trauma unit with brain injury specialists. Tammy would not have survived without her dogs' loyalty, persistence, and sense of urgency.

Owner/caretaker: Tammy Ogle
Nominating veterinarian: Dr. Roger Krogstad, Wildwood Animal Hospital, Marshfield
Lets see some stinky old cat do that!
A cat owner would have been smart enough to wear a seatbelt and so not get such nasty ejection injuries. A cat owner would have been smart enough to properly secure the cats for a road trip, too. A cat owner would have been smart enough to call animal control when strange dogs came to the door, acting frantic.

In other words, Ebone, you've posted a story of human stupidity.

I bet Tammy was texting when she flipped her SUV.

Yep. I bet the roommate and Kil's cat could teach each other a lot.

The cat could teach the roommate how to get Kil to serve him and the roommate could teach the cat how to use the toilet.

You are not providing any solid evidence of cat owners having any kind of greater intellect than dog owners. I see no evidence indicating that she was not wearing a seatbelt or that she would have been texting. Seeing as this particular story happened in 2003 before texting was popular I doubt that she was texting.
You are not making a very good case.

I like fish too. And rats and turtles and so on. I don't happen to have any of those right now. But you are wrong about cats. They play with you, they snuggle with you and do all kinds of things interactively. Of course, their terms are not the same as a dogs. Dogs lack the independence of a cat and let you know it almost constantly. I suppose some people enjoy the neediness of their dogs. But I can call my cat already, and he comes (if he feels like it.) And he doesn't drool all over me and so on.

That's not to say I don't like dogs. I just prefer them to be someone else's. I'm done with parenting...

Oh I am just giving you a hard time in jest. Both dogs and/or cats can make good pets in their own special way. I have a 30 gallon tank our in the shed that I have been tossing around the idea of getting back up and running. That's why I was thinking of fish. I have been reading up on keeping local fish in tank. Some bass or blue gill maybe rather than the tropical fish route.

The kid flaked and I'm still looking for a roommate. And I'm a bit pissed that he in no way let me know that he had changed his mind (or being a kid, someone changed it for him.)

I would have held the place if he had called or emailed me or showed any interest in the room after we agreed on the terms.

I don't blame his behavior on culture though. I blame it on universal kidness... The kid is twenty and our brain development is not completely done until we become 24 or so...

Just because you can't see the evidence doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. Cat owners are smart enough to read between the lines, and also to see that you're just trying to cover-up the stupidity of the dog people. Sheesh!

Quote Ebone
A dog, in the event of an emergency, will be helpful and many times display heroism. Cats are too selfish for that.
Absolutely! You can't beat a dog for security over a cat, that's for sure. Especially if you don't mind a dog's incessant barking anytime they think there's a threat, real or imagined. For dog lover's it's not an uncommon or erroneous opinion. Lynn Seely or Cathy Keesling, I'm sure will disagree. Is one animal better than the other? Who's to say? I've noticed dog lovers view cats as pure evil. Maybe this owner of a cat and dog could say but keep in mind dogs can be evil too. SS

There are only two types of religious people, the deceivers and the deceived. SS
