Just thought I'd advocate a little for the Secular Student Alliance. I received their latest fundraising letter today. Been on their mailing list for years and I was once apon a time even on their Board (in 2002.) They are doing so great! They are literally aiding in the starting of hundreds of student freethought groups, an increasing number of which are High School groups, and they recently helped provide legal aid to a kid in Alabama who wanted to start a group at his HS and was being prevented from doing so. And they've expanded their infrastructure with more paid staff. I played a very small role in starting this group, so I've witnessed first hand how it has grown, and I am so amazed. These are really dedicated, honest people running the show, and that has been key to their success. They don't overstate their goals or spread themselves too thin. They do practical, nuts and bolts work that helps atheist, skeptic, and other freethought student groups on campuses and in high schools thrive. If any freethinkers on SFN are looking for an effective secular organization to donate to, this is a great one.
