...and if so, how does this affect american credibility abroad?

"How is Michelle Bachman a relevant candidate when she's running as a tea party candidate supposedly backing the Constitution, but can't even name certain bill of rights. Things like this make you wonder why these people are even relevant in the political discourse, let alone capable of becoming president...How are these people even in these positions of power?"

Answer: Those positions aren't where the "power" lies, and they never have been. Golden Rule: He who has the gold, makes the rules. Who's lining their pockets? And it isn't necessary for a figurehead to be educated if he or she is to be an effective one. As long as the folks that they're pandering to are themselves ignorant the ability to repeat and parrot empty rhetoric will suffice.

"For all things have been baptized in the well of eternity and are beyond good
and evil; and good and evil themselves are but intervening shadows and damp
depressions and drifting clouds.Verily, it is a blessing and not a blasphemy
when I teach: ‘Over all things stand the heaven Accident, the heaven
Innocence, the heaven Chance, the heaven Prankishness." -Nietzsche

I was hoping for specifics, or should I just look at the top of the Fortune 500?

No shit.

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.
