A fascinating Youtube video series by Evid3nc3 (Chris) about his thought processes of how he went from being a devout Christian to an atheist. A large part was his online discussions with a professor who was a former Christian, and Chris felt compelled by God to pursue discussions with him.

The series is long, so if you just want a condensed version, I recommend the following videos:

0 Overview
2.0 Deconversion: The God Concept
2.3 Deconversion: Other Christians (Part 1)
2.3 Deconversion: Other Christians (Part 2)
2.6 Deconversion: The End

There are only two types of religious people, the deceivers and the deceived. SS

I watched most of the videos yesterday evening. All of the ones above, plus the atheist videos. I think they are terrific. I'd recommend this series, or parts of the series that are appropriate for certain questions that come up in debates from time to time. I also liked the empathy shown to people of faith and the insights on why they are what they are. The road to reason is not an easy one if you are completely immersed in that other culture. And I think it's important for atheists to realize that.

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

Why not question something for a change?

I was never a believer. Chris' explanation of what was going through his head helped me understand and feel for believers' perspective.
