It seems that at least some people are wanting the first lady and the former first lady to run for President and vice in the 2016 election.

As you might imagine, the rapturites want none of it. For example:

I know this is old hat, but I tell you now, if this abomination happens I am taking my family north and teaching them to speak Canadian.

I'd hope that we'd just toss the fucker back. The last thing we need are those clowns coming up here! He'd not want to stay anyway. we're more "socialist" than the dems are in the states.

That would be a dream ticket. I think there is a very good chance Hillary will run. Given that she has the highest approval rating of any politician in America. And yeah, I think she will be a shoe-in if she does. Of course, if the economy tanks and the dems are blamed, that would change everything. Does anyone know if Michelle Obama is even interested in the job? And then there is Biden, who is no doubt hoping that Hillary doesn't run.

Who knows? Just for some perspective, Hillary was the odds on favorite in 08 and Obama won the primaries. That's politics for you.

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

Why not question something for a change?

Keep them there, we don't want anyone who's dumb enough to believe that they need to learn Canadian.

Plus we've got all this commie stuff like socialized health insurance, decent minimum wage (well, not decent, but better than what you have I believe), abortion, social programs, we can travel to Cuba, large atheist population, etc. Shit, why would a redneck want to come to this hell-hole?

Well, they'd have to learn what "a boot" was and learn where it is appropriate to say "eh".

Now, "a boot" means "about". "Eh" is appropriate only in some provinces. French is a good language to learn if you want to spend any time in Quebec.

"Take off" is analogous to "get lost" in some provinces. And, lets face it, if you are looking to Bob and Doug MacKenzie for how thwe Canadians speak, you have bigger problems.

Oh, and Canada forbids the import of meth labs, so those trailer park rejects won't be able to emigrate to Canada.

While they are up there, they can say Hi to all the US draft dodgers, too.

How can anyone even reply to this seriously? What are we playing "Fantasy Politics"? Hillary is qualified but Michelle is not from the word go. Remember were not picking actors for a imaginary TV show. This is a delusional, crazy stupid thought, IMO.
Michelle is as qualified as any wife or husband of any current astronaut, for being selected to be sent in to space to the ISS on a six month rotation, with no further background or training. How does a marriage certificate transfer education and experienced in the background and life experiences of their spouse? It doesn't and this suggests it does! This is nothing more that a fantasy football version of fantasy politics, only worse. Even with creating a fantasy football team, if your serious you would choose players who are not football players.

Edited to add italicised words. "being" and "or training"

SS:
Hillary is qualified but Michelle is not from the word go.

Actually, Michelle Obama has more credentials than a lot of our presidents had before being elected. It might be worth looking over this, and pay special attention to her educational background and her community work:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelle_Obama

Following law school, she was an associate at the Chicago office of the law firm Sidley Austin, where she first met her future husband. At the firm, she worked on marketing and intellectual property.[4] She continues to hold her law license, but as she no longer needs it for her work, it has been on a voluntary inactive status since 1993.[49][50]
In 1991, she held public sector positions in the Chicago city government as an Assistant to the Mayor, and as Assistant Commissioner of Planning and Development. In 1993, she became Executive Director for the Chicago office of Public Allies, a non-profit organization encouraging young people to work on social issues in nonprofit groups and government agencies.[20] She worked there nearly four years and set fundraising records for the organization that still stood 12 years after she left.[18]

In 1996, she served as the Associate Dean of Student Services at the University of Chicago, where she developed the University's Community Service Center.[51] In 2002, she began working for the University of Chicago Hospitals, first as executive director for community affairs and, beginning May 2005, as Vice President for Community and External Affairs.[52] She continued to hold the University of Chicago Hospitals position during the primary campaign, but cut back to part-time in order to spend time with her daughters as well as work for her husband's election;[53] she subsequently took a leave of absence from her job.[54] According to the couple’s 2006 income tax return, her salary was $273,618 from the University of Chicago Hospitals, while her husband had a salary of $157,082 from the United States Senate. The Obamas' total income, however, was $991,296, which included $51,200 she earned as a member of the board of directors of TreeHouse Foods, and investments and royalties from his books.[55]

She served as a salaried board member of TreeHouse Foods, Inc. (NYSE: THS ),[56] a major Wal-Mart supplier with whom she cut ties immediately after her husband made comments critical of Wal-Mart at an AFL-CIO forum in Trenton, New Jersey, on May 14, 2007.[57] She serves on the board of directors of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.[58]

Not too shabby. And nothing like the "housewife" that you portrayed her as.

Agreed, not shabby at all. I'm sure you weren't demeaning housewives and I didn't mention housewives. I'll try to comment differently try to get across my position.
Just as I don't feel Palin was/is qualified for president or VP and I don't feel Michelle is qualified either. You apparently do and that's why there's betting with horse races. I'm way less qualified than them all but that doesn't make those mentioned as qualified with those that I would judge so. It's just how I view the issue. I would rather have candidates running that I can see a political track record of their positions on issues that they will be able to effect or affect. I would like experience similar to the work that they are applying to do. "Assistant to the Mayor, and as Assistant Commissioner of Planning and Development" are not it, for me. Remember obama was Senator before his run. I would think being Mayor of Chicago which is an elected position a step closer to a qualification than assistant. Has she ever been elected to any position by voters? Senator Kennedy was way more qualified, imo but never made it, yet there are those who think she would be good to put up against what the Republicans would offer? I don't see it being a good choice but what the hell, I'm not in any position to hurt her chances.

Here's a little story a boot trying to get answers from Canadians. Back in the 80's I worked for a Canadian mainframe computer manufacturer out of Markham, Toronto, covering their southeast region in the states from my home in Florida. Whenever I would called up there for phone tech support I would discuss the issue and they would lend some guidance. After I would hang up I always felt frustrated because I always thought their answer was a question and I wanted answers. Strangely their question was always helpful in solving the problem. Eventually I complained and said "Every time I ask a question all I get it a question, can I just get an answer and not a question?" There was this long pause,,,, then I heard "I answered your question and didn't ask a question. I said 'Eh?' at the end meaning do you understand?!"

With that, three months of confusion vanished, eh?!

A good amount of Canadians are "cheesy white" (their term) due to the winter attire and shorter tanning season. If you bring a Brazilian tan, you'll be most welcomed to look at. Coming from Florida on business trips, I got my share of comments.

It's aboot as close as I can approximize. Heard it a lot from a Canadian friend of the family and ODed on it when I went to Stratford, Ontario to see a few plays.

Now my own accent may take some explaining.

"brudder" - male sibling
"too tree" - two or three
"braaats" - bratwurst
"front troom" - living room
"O-hi-a" - state to the East of Indiana
"Cheeseheads" - denezens of Wisconsin
"bums" - usually the Chicago Cubs
The "Damn Ryan" or "Goddamn Ryan" - The Dan Ryan Expressway
"Stevie" - The Adali Stevenson Expressway
"Ike" - The Eisenhower Expressway
"tree niney four" - the Bishop Ford Expressway, Illinois route 394
"the defendant" - the governor of Illinois
"unindicted co-conspirators" - the Illinois General Assembly and the entire city government of Chicago
"Silver Shovel" - see FBI investigation of the same name
"Greylord" - see FBI investigation of the same name
"Hired trucks" - see above
