It's a shame The History Channel (THC) does such a disservice to it's viewers by putting out such garbage and pure bullshit with their Ancient Aliens series. It was posted on another thread on SFN, for those who don't know, that there is a whole web site debunking Ancient Aliens and a 3 hour video doing just that. I watched it in segments over several days do to it's length. It's very well done It's enough to put THC in the same light as theists when it comes to not speaking the truth and spreading unprecedented boldface lies. I think THC intensionally put that outrageous hair do on that guy as a kind of a wink and nod that the show is all bullshit.

It truly is a shame. The other day I had to patiently explain to my mother how entirely made of bs the History Channel and its ancient aliens show are - she was watching it as I laughed hysterically from my bedroom, listening to it. 'History', riight.

The biggest problem with the ancient aliens was that instead of the current high-tech materials they now have, they had to use plain wooden sticks for probing way back then. Not only did it hurt a hell of a lot more, but the slivers left behind actual evidence of their activities*.

*the rumours that people thousands of years ago were just desperate because they had no toilet paper have been dismissed by mainstream anthropologists and archeologists.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

When they started doing the aliens and other pseudoscientific crap, I thought the channel had jumped the shark. The Bible completes the travel away from history into popular pablum.

Exactly, I see it the same way. Sadly it appears way to many people exist who don't have the capacity or a willingness to find out if what their told is the truth or if what they're being told even makes sense when held up to the simplest kind of scrutiny. They serve their own desire to believe what makes them feel good and is comfortable, even if it makes no logical sense or if it rocks their boat floating in a sea of Woo and defies real physical realities. People are proud and boast that what they believe in is not science based but that they believe so because "they just know it" and feels right in their heart. It feels right because of the established foundation of Woo that it is based on, instead of a solid science based foundation. People who live in the dark will always recoil from the light and resist opening their eyes to see what is really going on. Oh well, to each their own.

Though, I did enjoy this one show I saw that told how much of a jerk David-from-the-Bible was... and Solomon too. They were such dicks.

Don't forget that most of the "ancient humans were too stupid to build the whatever" arguments are thinly disguised racism. They come predominately from white doodz, talking about brown people.

White people who generally would never be able to build a bird house, let alone a pyramid. I usually reply with "only because YOU can't, doesn't mean they couldn't".

Excellent point. They'd generally have trouble building anything even if given a climate-controlled shop filled with modern tools.

I'm gonna have to remember to ask 'em if they've ever built a birdhouse.

I sometimes wonder if those folks, given the aforementioned shop with lots of pretty toys, would be able to build anything other than a large hospital bill.
