The BBC has released The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Game - 30th Anniversary Edition! Even has the Infocom 1984 copyright.

Save and Restore are options if you don't like starting over after you die, but apparently only if you're logged into the BBC site with a BBCiD.

Last I played, I got stuck in The Heart of Gold. Classic not-so-intuitive Infocom.

The game also gets a mention or two in MC Frontalot's It Is Pitch Dark (which also mentions lots of other games, and features a Steve Meretzky cameo).
