Science can not explain why woo-woo's think science should explain everything.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Ohhh! I have one!

Why anyone would call themselves "Father of the New Skepticism", and then refuse to respond to multiple requests to explain their self proclaimed title and provide evidence that demonstrates why they would be qualified to hold such a title.

Ok, I'll bite: Science cannot explain the nature of God(s).

Do you mean "Things science cannot explain, ever, period." or "Things science cannot explain yet" ?

'Cause if you mean the latter, i have plenty of suggestions from my own research :)

Science cannot explain the mechanism of gravitational attraction. We are great at measuring it's effects but at this point there are several different theories about the mechanism. Searches are being done for gravitational waves and gravitrons, etc. It is a very exciting investigation. No answers yet though.

Science cannot explain human philosophy.

Science cannot explain why women don't flock to verlch in terms that he can understand.

Science cannot explain theological constructs.

Science cannot explain why you feel it necessary to attack James Randi's integrity without evidence.

Science cannot explain the US tax code.

Science cannot explain anything. It is not sentient.

Science is the creation of human curiosity.

Science is a tool, a rational/logical process of discovery.

I was going to say that science does not explain, it describes - but you said it better, Rubicon95. Guess that wraps up this thread.

Off topic... but I agree. Very exiting. The implications for discovering the mechanism involved are immense. World changing. Being able to detect something is often the first step in being able to replicate and control it.

No, he is the father of new skepticism, not skepticism (whatever that is). Keep in mind he is also the son, the grandfather, the daughter, and the mother becaues I think he may be the only one in new skepticism.

I wonder if science can prove he is the "father of new skepticism". Anyone know of a paternity test for that sort of thing?

Care to submit any proof, latinijral?

If he could drink 2 cups of bleach without dying, he is the father of new skepticism.

(Come on natural selection...)
