Many were very excited to read in a blog earlier this year when "Cy" the one eyed cyclops kitten was hearlded as the icon of atheism. Well the Lost World Musem seized upon the oppertunity and purchased her and now Cy is the new spoke anmial of creationism. See her published and unpublished photos here www.lostworldmuseum.com

1) How does this animal bolster your claims?

2) Why are you making money off this animal?

From your site:

quote:
Do positive mutations exist? The mutations I have seen, like Cy, are either neutral or negative.

Just because YOU haven't seen a positive mutation does not mean it doesn't exist, and it is intellectually dishonest of you to claim that.

quote:
We did not then or now see evolution produce a gill to a lung or fin to an arm.

Again, a dishonest statement. You either don't know how ToE works, or you do and are warping it to support your viewpoint. And the people who come to your site who don't know either will come away with a false idea.

One would think that if you truly had faith in your literal interpretation, you would not have to resort to exaggerations, falsehoods, and manipulations to bolster it.

How the hell is a mutated cat the "icon of atheism?" Do you mean because such horrible mutations are difficult to explain as resulting from the perfect plan of a benevolent creator? Well, I would agree. It's nearly impossible.

However, evolution explains it quite nicely, since mutations are a key to the process. Luckily, it makes no claim that all mutations are beneficial (unlike god), and so sometimes do produce horrible anamolies. I have no idea why you think pointing out that some mutations are harmful helps your cause in any way, since everyone agrees on that point. You main claim that mutations never cause benefits to an organism is just another creationist lie, and displaying a disfigured kitty is just a shock tactic that convinces no one of anything except that you are a dishonest sensationlist without any true evidence behind your claims.

I do wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, specializing in reptiles, mainly venomous. About six years ago, I was asked to come and get a 'sick' turtle. The animal, a young, adult female, turned out to be one of the sliders, a painted turtle with two heads and necks, and perfectly healthy. Not wanting it myself, I called an acquaintance, described it, and offered it to him if he'd pay the shipping. He agreed, and I sent it off. He collects two-headers and has something over a dozen, including a couple of snakes.

My question is: what is so exciting about this animal? Freaks of these sorts, while not common, are not all that extraordinary except to the easily impressed.

If the kitten had been born in a litter of mine, were I keeping a lot of cats, I'd have euthanized it as soon as I saw it. I fail to see what this has to do with atheism. Or creationism, for that matter.

To me that's just exploiting a little, living (no longer?), feeling thing for all it's worth, just because it was unfortunate to be born with a genetic defect.
Really, I'd be ashamed.

The kitten is evidence that cyclops exist. This is positive evidence that Homer's stories are more true than the Bible. The conlcusion is that the Greek Gods exist, and the Bible is wrong (since the Bible proclaims these gods are mutually exclusive).

Well, as far as I can tell, while holoprosencephaly in humans can be related to a genetic disorder (particularly trisomy 13), about half the time it's due to infection, toxins, or other reasons. In goats, cyclopia can be due to the ingestion of Western False Hellebore two weeks into gestation. It seems that cyclopamine (purified from the same plant) can do the same to chicks.

The very idea that "Cy" was due to a "mutation" is without supporting evidence.

By the way, when was she dubbed the "icon of atheism," and what mindless idiot did so?

So now the question is will Bibleland take this down or will he continue to lie to the public?

I say he will continue to lie to the public. Apparently if you are Christian it is OK to bear false witness if you do it to promote your religion.

Yeah right, Bibleland, God's creature is the icon of atheists. Or did you forget that from your point of view, God punished that kitty for its parents sins?

Animals are without sin because they didn't eat the fruit of knowledge.
On the other hand, they don't have a soul to worry about either.

Are their any actual Icons of atheism? As an anuminous atheist I cant seem to think of any which havent been assigned to us by the folks like Bill. Hell, Darwin wasnt even an atheist.

Edit: Not to mention that many or most evolution believers are not atheists.

I think this exploitation of a deformed animal proves that YEC's are the kind of people who:

A - Buy the Weekly World News

B - Take it seriously

Apologies to non North Americans who may not have clue what I am talking about.

Check out last weeks issue - it had an evolution related story on the cover.
