OH, YO: After a short rant on my part, read about a new TV special coming out soon.

Corporate/fascists intensify calling others what they THEMSELVES are: nazi-like. Mr. Ann Coulter and some of his colleagues, like: Bill O'Really?, Roosh Limpbat, Sean Insanity and G. War Bush are all using the term fascist in connection with terrorists, etc., more than ever these days.

Most terrorists are poor and burdened by a tribal sense of an anthropromorphic deity. They have not the foggiest notion of what to do regarding big business; Osama might, however, since he comes from a Yemini business family. But those who bomb themselves and innocent people are not fascists, they're fuckin' stupid; much like that small (thank god) percentage of Americans who still support G. War and his boss, Dick Cheney.

Please look up the definition of fascist. The primary meaning for it relates to what Benito Mussolini wanted to change the name, fascist, to: corporatism. Hilter didn't go for it. Fascism, in essence, means government run by business. It's opposite, Soviet communisim, means commerce controlled by government. Both are not good; but tell that to people in this country who don't know how close to being fascist they are, i.e. Bill O'Really?!

And...I think it's pretty clear to most Americans today that the Soviet model is something to eschew. Thus, reactionary folks can't rely on calling everyone a Commie today to get what they want. In many cases, when it WAS effective, it was but a red herring; much like terrorism is in some ways, 9/11, flag desecration, same-sex marriage, gun laws, immigration and having the Christian 10 Commandments on an edifice of jurisprudence. All of these are resonant to the thinking that was inculcated before and during the Third Reich.

What Soviet Communism and National Socialism (fascist nazism) have in common is that they are totalitarian, which is the opposite of diverse, liberal democracy; the kind of democracy the president thinks he spreading. But, as the terrorists who know nothing about big business, G. War knows not an inkling about liberal democracy. Everyday, he demonstrates that in the media.

Now, comes the bushit....

New TV special featuring Coulter ties Darwin to Hitler

Published: Saturday August 19, 2006

An upcoming television special produced by a Christian broadcaster that features conservative pundit Ann Coulter links Charles Darwin to Adolf Hitler, RAW STORY has learned.

"Author and Christian broadcaster Dr. D. James Kennedy connects the dots between Charles Darwin and Adolf Hitler in Darwin's Deadly Legacy, a groundbreaking inquiry into Darwin's chilling social impact," announces a press release issued by Coral Ridge Ministries. "The new television documentary airs nationwide on August 26 and 27 on The Coral Ridge Hour."

Coral Ridge Ministries is definitely a creationist loony bin.

Those who become suicide bombers doesn't become that because they are stupid, but because to them it seems like the best course of action.
Remember, many militant faction promise the bomber that his family will be taken good care of. That is very important when there is no other social safety net. It's their social security.

For another example, the suicide bomber Hanadi Jaradat (one of the Al-Aqsa Intifada's first female suicide bombers) was a lawyer before her decision to become a bomber. Her motivation was grief and revenge after having seen her loved ones (family and fiancée) being shot dead by Israeli troops. When she lost everything she loved, what else was there to live for? At least she got the satisfaction of payback.

Plus the eternal reward. I agree, they are not stupid, and it is a mistake to underestimate them in this fashion.

Ignorant maybe, stupid sometimes, but not always.

The act of suicide bombing, I would agree, is pretty fucking stupid.

But even really smart people do stupid things when emotions run high.

Standard creationist "Darwinism leads to fascism" nonsense. Been debunked many times, Coral Ridge is just trying to ride it for its emotional effects.

No decent dog would defecate anything resembling Ann Coulter. I am deeply offended by this.

YO: The word stupid may not be the most accurate usage. The point about getting help for a family is a quite valid factor; one that, although I'm aware of, I didn't process at the time I was ranting. However, the usage of "stupid" edges into the use of the word
"ignorant" when it comes to getting to ball 70 some virgins as one blows oneself to pieces. Any of the religiously held reasons are plainly supersitious convictions that a tribal-like belief would inculcate; a mentality that both G. War and Mr. Ann Coulter prey upon. Thanks for the suggestions regarding what is and isn't stupid. It's most unstupid of this site's perspicacious readership. OY!

I don't think the percentage of religiously motivated bombers are as high as you think.

If the palestinians were given a decent social security and jobs in a working economy, they would be too busy to go on suicide raids.

It would be interesting to see some statistics, if you could even gather them, on the motivations of suicide bombers.

There are doubtless many things that factor into the decision to be a suicide bomber.

I'd also speculate that religion is what gives the bombers the confidence to carry out their missions.

If you removed that influence, there would (imo) be a significant decrease in the number of people willing to suicide bomb.

True, religion does offer comfort.

Which is easier? Removing religion, or restoring social security and economy?

This is where Israel fucked up big time.
By destroying infrastructure, police-stations, and other "governmental" installations on the West-Bank and Gaza, and keeping Palestinian economy from recovering, they play into the hands of the Hamas.
Hamas have for many years kept a parallel system of education and other social security-related services. "Attend our religious service, and we'll help you in return..." Is there any wonder they don't have much trouble recruiting? Not unlike Christian religious shelters driven by congregations such as The Salvation Army. Maybe with the difference that the Islam being taught is a bit more radical than Lutheran Christianity.

From New Scientist, May 15th, 2004:
quote:
As numerous studies have confirmed, a major reason why organisations turn to terrorism is the perception that their homeland is being occupied by a foreign power. This is especially true for suicide terrorism, which almost without exception has only been used as part of a systematic campaign to persuade a government to withdraw from territory the group considers its own.
Many Muslims tend to view the entire Islamic world as their homeland, and any western presence as an occupation.

quote:
While suicide terrorists invariably come from oppressed communities, recent research by psychologists, anthropologists and others suggests that they fit none of the other common profiles. They are no less rational or sane, no worse educated, no poorer and no more religious than anyone else(emphasis mine). "They are like you and me," says Rohan Gunaratna, head of terrorism research at the Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. What this amounts to is in many ways more alarming than the ubiquitous misperception of the suicide bomber as fanatical. It means that, in the right circumstances, anyone could be one.

The article also gives a brief answer as to why organizations such as the IRA never used suicide bombers.
quote:
..it was against their culture, that their people would turn against them. Hunger strikes were the furthest they could go.

Oh, I don't disagree with you.

I even fully agree that most suicide bombers are not motivated by religion. They have other reasons for wanting to strike out.

What I am saying is, simply, that religion is the enabler. If they didn't have the conviction that they would be rewarded in the afterlife there would likely be far fewer willing to strap on the TNT.

Would many still choose to fight? Undoubtedly. But they would also be amenable to reason and negotiation when those things finally (and I hope they will) appear.

As it is now, with fundamentalist islamic religion in charge, I think there is little hope of a real solution to the problems in that part of the world.
