Come on, how much can one do in two and a half hours? Right? Right?

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Good! Now the swine will be out of his secret sty and easier to serve with Articles of Impeachment.

Won't happen of course, but I can dream.

Who knows, perhaps, as Robb has so nicely intimated, the scope might get up Bush's nostril and into what passes for his brain, giving him an accidental lobotomy and rendering him an even more pathetic moron than ever (contrary to popular belief, it is possible, that he could become yet more cretinous), and we can take our time and get the impeachment right!

Maybe Cheney has been the quietly moderating force all this time, and will spend his hours as Acting President withdrawing from Iraq. Or maybe not. But I don't see him as in any way worse than Bush, just a bit smarter. Which, come to think of it, is worse.

I don't see what the big deal is, all that happens is that the actual president of the US gets the "official" presidential powers for a couple hours.

Seriously, you don't think Bush ever made a decision Cheney didn't tell him to make, do you? The guy can't even form complete sentences, and is president in name only. Because Rove can get a "good ol' boy" from TX elected where even he couldn't get Cheney elected to the office.

Ewk-k-k!....after this medical check with Cheney stepping in as President, I think I'll take a long shower afterwards to wash the day all off. In fact, the whole nation should take a lo-o-o-n-g shower after Saturday. Better make that a long, long shower after the Bush administration's ass is out of here for good.

What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence is an index into his desires -- desires of which he himself is often unconscious. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way. - Bertrand Russell

Actually, no. Not until a Presidential succession crisis occurred when Regan was shot (but not killed) was the succession codified and the proper order decided for when the President is incapacitated.

It did not apply to Kennedy/LBJ.
